Join us for an exclusive artist talk with Jeremy Grimshaw as he shares Frank Grimshaw's journey in creating his impactful and historic work, "Pitmen." Jeremy will speak to the challenges of photographing underground during this period, and the technical approach Frank took to bring these portraits to life. This talk will cover topics such as equipment that was used and how Frank achieved sharp depth of field in low-light environments.
Frank Grimshaw was a photographer for the National Coal Board when he created his pitmen series, thought to be taken in support of a late 1960s recruitment campaign. For decades, this series of negatives was protected in an armoire and we are so fortunate to display the work at Silvershack as part of the CONTACT Photography Festival.
Spots are limited!
