Invitation to a Reading on Poetry and Art at The Free Times Café June 8th
Dear Friends,
On June 8, at the Free Times Café, there’ll be a poetry reading on the theme of “Art and Artists” by Susan Glickman, A.F. Moritz, and John Reibetanz, and I’m posting this to invite all of you who are in Toronto or within range.
The full event information is: 7:00 to 9:00 on Sunday, June 8th, at The Free Times Cafe, 320 College St., about two short blocks west of Spadina, right across College Street from The Beguiling. www.freetimescafe.com.
John Reibetanz has a new book responding to paintings, Everyday Light. Susan Glickman has interacted with visual art throughout her poetic career, including in Henry Moore’s Sheep (1990) and her most recent book, Cathedral Grove (2023), which contains sections of her own drawings and related poems. A. F. Moritz has also written on the theme of art-and-poetry throughout his work, for instance in 1999’s Rest on the Flight into Egypt.
Emcee Allan Briestmaster will begin the readings promptly at 7:30. There will be short intermissions between the readers, and a question-and-answer session at the end.
Seating in the Free Times event space is limited and the event seems to be garnering a good attendance, so it’s best to arrive by 7:00 to ensure seating. The food at The Free Times is good and not expensive. Should you wish to have supper before the event, be sure to make a reservation by phoning 416-967-1078.
