There is probably one thing we can all agree on, and that is that we are living in turbulent times. Is it possible for us to see beyond the dark clouds forming around us?
With widespread war and famine happening in so many parts of our world, news about yet another mass shooting, and even the stability of our systems of government coming into question, we may feel helpless amid the intensity of this extreme suffering. In fact, it’s even possible that we feel guilty because of the relative comfort of our situations when so many others are facing unspeakable afflictions.
The Buddhist teachings tell us that mindfulness-awareness practices can help us weather the storm and connect with the indestructible calm - the unshakeable goodness - that is at the center of our beings, no matter how strong the gale force winds are blowing.
