The City of Toledo Parks and Youth Services, in partnership with the Parks Youth Advisory Board, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Operation Engage, and the DEA Educational Foundation, is launching a summer-long series of youth engagement events called One Pill Can K*ll. One Voice Can Save a Life is designed to raise awareness about drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyles.
The series begins with a Youth Summit Focus Group and Basketball Clinic on Friday, June 6, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Mott Branch Library, 1010 Dorr Street. The basketball clinic will be held at the Smith Park Courts. 910 Dorr Street.
This free one-day event is open to incoming seventh graders and up and will feature interactive workshops where participants learn about the dangers of drug abuse and misuse. Teens will create short Public Service Announcements (PSAs) to encourage their peers to make positive choices. The afternoon also includes a basketball clinic focused on healthy habits, physical wellness, and teamwork. (Snack and Lunch will be provided)

Open to incoming 4th – 7th graders
This event combines basketball and dance with a discussion about the risks of drug misuse and the benefits of active, healthy living.

August 14: Kickball Tournament & Back to School Community Movie Night
4 – 6 p.m. at Detwiler Park, 4001 N Summit St.
Open to incoming 4th – 7th graders
The program features a kickball tournament focusing on teamwork and drug prevention, followed by a community movie night with added guest Party on A Truck for those esports fans (5pm- 8pm). Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. The movie will begin at dusk. No registration required for movie night events.
