Opening Day Tours of Infinite Images: The Art of Algorithms

Step into the fascinating world of generative art and discover how some contemporary artists use mathematical principles, chance, and automation to create their work. Moving from examples from the 1960s—the conceptual art of Sol LeWitt, the geometric abstraction of Josef Albers, and the early computer art of Vera Molnár—to contemporary artists who program computer software and train their own artificial intelligence models, this tour will explore how artists collaborate with generative systems.

This special tour will be led by Dr. Adam M. Levine, the Toledo Museum of Art’s Edward Drummond and Florence Scott Libbey President, Director, and CEO.

As part of the opening weekend celebration, guests may encounter unscripted appearances by artists featured in the exhibition along with unique, one-time-only experiences that will not be repeated during the run of the show. Exhibition admission is $10 for nonmembers and free for members. The guided tour is included with your admission at no extra charge.
