Silks and Lyra Beginner Workshop

Beginner Workshop for 4 weeks of 2 hour classes 4-6pm on Sundays and a performance in September 2025 downtown. You can also book a private lesson for 2 hours on a Monday for $100. Come learn some of the basic positions and moves for the Lyra and Silks apparatuses. Ages 4 yrs and up.

Rachel has taught lyra and silks in Gainesville, FL at a circus gym and also trained privately with a former Ringling Bros. Circus performer.

She has been teaching fitness for over 20 years. She started with teaching gymnastics at the YMCA where she herself trained with some University of Florida coaches in the 90s. In graduate school she taught Dance Cardio classes, and then Pilates, and Yoga. She is certified through NASM in personal training and has AFFA certifications in many class formats, including now also Silver Sneakers. She taught almost every class at LA Fitness. In the past she has worked as an exercise therapist under a Physical Therapist and Acupuncturist. She taught Aerial arts at a circus gym while also working as a professor at several colleges and took classes with the FSU Circus at Florida State University and Gymnastics at the University of Florida. She is an expert in weight management, psychology, and fitness. She has worked with the military and did Americorps for two years.
