Happy Hour with Charles Rice Gonzalez
The Happy Hour is set in a Harlem bar that once thrived as a jazz club and now exists as a metaphysical crossroads where Black queerness persists. Here, Taher, a teen bullied for being gay, meets Seeker, an aging doctor returning to confront the ghosts of friends lost to AIDS. Their paths converge in this time-bending realm where they encounter visionary historical figures—James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, Octavia E. Butler, and more—whose voices bridge past and present, and illuminate paths toward the future.
