Telford Walk Week: Lyreco, a sustainable future

Meet 10am Lyreco Main Reception, Deer Park Court, Telford TF2 7NB. Lyreco are Telford's biggest employer with a 14,000 array rooftop solar farm. This walk is a fascinating insight into how 'sustainabilty' and a 'green future' can be incorporated in many ways that foster staff wellbeing, the bottom line, and help the environment. After the warehouse tour to see how the electricity generated helps power the warehouse and vehicle fleet and a visit to their eco garden, we take a beautiful walk around Granville Country Park Local Nature Reserve. This brownfield site of old mines, blast furnaces and spoil heaps is now a re-wilded sustainable environment with woods, wildflower meadows, heathlands and pools. We also climb the steps to the 'top of the world' to see across Shropshire and into Wales. NB. No one aged under 18 or dogs are permitted on this visit and walk due to workplace safety regulations. There are steep steps and narrow pathways, on both the factory tour and the countryside walk. Please wear robust trainers, walking shoes or similar, as there are some rough unsurfaced paths.
