Comic Book Club: A Zine Workshop for Ages 7–17

Join local artist Sari Shryack and her 9-year-old son, Knox, for a fun and creative afternoon learning how to make your own zine (short for magazine). Students will learn how to plan a short comic using storyboarding techniques, fold their comic into a zine format, and explore visual storytelling concepts like the Hero’s Journey and character design.

Helpful drawing prompts, instructional handouts, and comic-making resources will be provided. The workshop wraps up with a snack break and a chance to share finished zines with the group. Parents and caregivers are invited to attend the final 30 minutes.

Event will take place July 21, 2025 from 1:00pm-4:30pm at Dickey-Givens Community Center (1015 E M.L.K. Jr Blvd, Taylor, TX 76574)
