Beethoven - Mount Maunganui 2025

Experience two of Beethoven’s most distinctive works in one programme: the radiant Mass in C, Op. 86, and the expressive Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13 (Pathetique Sonata).

The Mass in C blends lyrical beauty, thoughtful contrasts, and intricate choral writing, offering moments of both intimacy and grandeur. Performed by our chamber choir with organist Jeremy Woodside, it showcases Beethoven’s ability to combine clarity, warmth, and energy in sacred music.

Rising young pianist David Jiang will perform the Pathetique Sonata, one of Beethoven’s most celebrated piano works. Its sweeping opening, lyrical slow movement, and spirited finale reveal the composer’s remarkable range and emotional depth.
