About the exhibit:
Sometimes we don’t feel like we belong. We either struggle to find places that feel like us—reflecting our joys, struggles, cultures, and unique experiences—or we are socioeconomically and geographically pushed out of these experiences, including (and not excluding) access to the arts and wellness modalities.
Breathe in Color stepped up and built a space for and founded by the people, and then the people added their own flair, initiatives, and workshops that were creative and met the economic, mental health, and movement needs of our community. Teylor Parks and Kosi Sumpter answered the call, but Black and Brown folks in Tallahassee took it to a whole ’nother level.
This exhibition tells the visual story of how two FAMU alums—with a pole, a van, and a warehouse dream—turned their visions into a vibrant, creative wellness community.
