Rangatahi Rōpū and Susie Says! are psyched to present Coast Arcade at Artworks Theatre on Saturday 31 May - the climax of NZ Music Month, and an all-ages show for all of Waiheke!
Coast Arcade's high energy indie-pop and engaging stage presence get the crowd absolutely buzzing, creating a fun atmosphere and a memorable show. Their 2024 tour saw long lines formed outside venues across Aotearoa, waiting for the doors to open, leaving the audience singing their infectiously catchy songs for days following the show.
For their Waiheke Island debut, Coast Arcade will be supported by Waiheke High School bands Lemoncholi and Vital Signz, who have also supported French artist Ryder, the Eagle and Guitar Wolf, respectively.
About Coast Arcade:
Coast Arcade is a four-piece alt-rock band from Ta¯maki Makaurau/Auckland that combines 90s rock nostalgia with a modern indie edge. Formed in 2021 by four high school friends, the band has quickly become one of New Zealand’s most exciting acts, known for their energetic live performances, honest lyricism, and undeniable chemistry.
The lineup features Bella Bavin (Rafflyn) on vocals and guitar, Leo Spykerman on bass and backing vocals, Arlo Birss on guitar, and Thom Boynton on drums. Bella and Leo write the band’s music, with Bella taking the lead in production, creating a sound that draws comparisons to Paramore and The Smashing Pumpkins.
In 2024, Coast Arcade’s singles “Baited” and “City Limits” soared on the Hot NZ Singles Chart, landing at #3 and #8 respectively. “City Limits” reached 250,000 views on YouTube and “Baited” amassed 65,000 streams across streaming platforms in just 5 weeks. Their entire discography has seen tremendous playlist success, with all their releases featured on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists such as Fresh Finds Global, Best New Rock, Local Noise, Today’s Rock, and New Music Daily. This consistent recognition has cemented Coast Arcade as a band that’s as playlist-worthy as they are stage-ready.
The band’s live performances have further solidified their reputation, with sold-out shows in Hamilton and Tauranga, a near sell-out at The Tuning Fork, and tours alongside acts like Lime Cordiale, The Terrys, The Beths, and Teenage Dads. Their high-energy gigs and powerful connection with audiences make them a must-see act.
Currently, Coast Arcade is nearing the end of writing their debut full-length album, an introspective project that captures the trials and triumphs of growing up—from high school to early adulthood. With their growing fanbase and relentless passion, Coast Arcade is not just a band to watch - they’re a band to follow.
Doors at 7pm!
