Manu Mojito is a Colombian visual artist whose multidisciplinary work spans photography, video, and performance, grounded in a deep engagement with the plastic arts. A graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana—where he now teaches—Manu has dedicated his creative practice to the exploration, representation, and vindication of diverse bodies and identities, particularly within queer and non-normative communities.
His bold and poetic visual language has positioned him as a leading voice in Colombia’s contemporary art scene and a national reference in queer and diverse culture. His work has reached international audiences through exhibitions in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, the United States, Germany, and Spain.
Manu’s work forms part of major national and international collections, including the Banco de la República in Colombia, the Schwules Museum in Berlin, the National Museum of Colombia, the Arkhe Foundation in Spain, the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá (MAMBO), the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bogotá, and the Tolima Museum in Ibagué. He is also an active contributor and advisor to the Arkhe Foundation’s queer archive.
In addition to his gallery and museum practice, Manu extends his visual storytelling through the direction and production of short documentaries and television series, which echo his central themes of body, memory, and resistance.
Currently, he is a participating artist at Espacio El Dorado gallery in Bogotá, and actively supports the Tacoman Biodiversa Foundation’s "Woods of Memory" project in Washington State—an initiative that honors the lives of disappeared Indigenous, immigrant, and transgender women in Pierce County through the planting of memorial trees.
