Join us for a poetry reading from : Kevin Medarsky, Thomas Warne, and Stephen Kuusisto. Kevin was one of the Petit Branch Voices in Verse poets. Thomas Warne is a talented teen poet who is a rising junior at Nottingham and member of the Young Authors Academy. Stephen Kuusisto is a professor at SU and noted poet who will read from his newest book. Followed by an OPEN MIC where you can share a poem. Kevin Medansky grew up in Illinois and has since lived in Philadelphia, Avignon, Paris, Brooklyn, and Syracuse. He now volunteers with arts organizations throughout Central New York. His writing includes a 2019 translation of Yves Reynaud’s Apnée ou le dernier des militants and the 2021 publication of his master’s thesis, De l’intime au politique : L’évolution des relations intimes au sein de l’espace dramaturgique de la maison.
Thomas Warne is a rising junior at Nottingham High School and a longtime member of the Young Authors Academy at the YMCA of Central New York's Writers Voice, where he has developed his poetic voice. In addition to writing, his many interests include cross-country track, tennis, knitting, theater arts, and running the sound board at Nottingham's PAC shows.
Stephen Kuusisto is the author of the memoirs Eavesdropping: A Memoir of Blindness and Listening, Planet of the Blind (named New York Times “Notable Book of the Year,” and Have Dog, Will Travel. He has also published numerous collections of poetry, including his most recent, Close Escapes, a collection of poems released this spring from Copper Canyon Press.
