AI is already part of our daily lives - built into Amazon, Netflix, Alexa, and Siri, as well as tools we use without even realizing it. In this session, we’ll take a closer look at how AI works and why it matters. You’ve probably heard names like Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Midjourney, or companies like OpenAI and Nvidia rolling out innovations, but we’ll talk about what makes AI important and what our role as humans is in working alongside it. By understanding AI, we can feel more confident using it and stay current in a world that’s now being built a little differently.

About Carrie and Jannie, Co-Owners of Blue Salt Air:

Carrie and Jannie, the creative duo behind Blue Salt Air, bring their shared passion for storytelling, technology, and community engagement to every project they take on. After first meeting at the Food Network in 2004 - where Jannie led website design and Carrie was Vice President of Public Relations - they went on to co-found a successful PR and web agency and the acclaimed Feast Portland food festival. Now based in Syracuse, they teach at Syracuse University and continue exploring new ideas through community-centered projects like this session, where they aim to demystify AI and make it accessible, approachable, and even a little fun.
