This is a hands-on workshop where we demystify website building and show you it’s not as hard as you think. Together, we’ll walk through each step to build your own one-page Squarespace site - from drafting copy with ChatGPT to designing your homepage, intro/about, and contact sections. In the second half, we’ll go further into AI tools, explore SEO and branding basics, and finally bring everything together so you leave knowing what to do next.
You’ll get a free, password-protected 6-month Squarespace trial to build and practice in—no fees until you go public. (Note: Squarespace requires a monthly or annual subscription to launch your website. You’ll also receive a 20% discount on your first purchase.)
Note: Computers will not be provided. Please come with a laptop or come watch, listen and ask all your questions!

Carrie and Jannie, the creative duo behind Blue Salt Air, bring their shared passion for storytelling, technology, and community engagement to every project they take on. After first meeting at the Food Network in 2004 - where Jannie led website design and Carrie was Vice President of Public Relations - they went on to co-found a successful PR and web agency and the acclaimed Feast Portland food festival. Now based in Syracuse, they teach at Syracuse University and continue exploring new ideas through community-centered projects like this session, where they aim to demystify AI and make it accessible, approachable, and even a little fun.
