Meet the remarkable Paul Pritchard. Despite catastrophic injuries sustained during an ascent of the Totem Pole rock stack in Tasmania in 1998 that left him with hemiplegia, the Society’s 2018 Spirit of Adventure winner Paul Pritchard has continued to lead a life filled with adventure as a climber, caver, cyclist and kayaker. Paul leads expeditions that enable fellow adventurers living with disabilities opportunities to achieve record-breaking feats of endurance.

In 2024, he walked the length of the tough Larapinta Trail in the NT along with three fellow adventurers all of whom were facing medical and mobility challenges. That expedition has been turned into a heartwarming film of overcoming odds, tenacity, courage and plenty of the kind of humour Paul’s renowned for all set against the stunning backdrop of the Red Centre.
