17 year old Sam is spending the weekend hiking with her dad and his oldest friend, Matt, in the Catskills in New York State. It should be a weekend of familial bonding while basking in New York’s regional beauty. But an unexpected interaction between Sam and Matt causes Sam to clash with her father, and reconsider what their relationship means to her.

A directorial debut from India Donaldson, Good One revels in its quieter moments as a coming of age story that feels all too familiar in its exploration of the struggle to speak out.
