Unplug and experience a weekend of spectacular landscapes, fun and warm Fijian hospitality in the Namosi Highlands. Namosi Eco Retreat is situated near Navunikabi village, at approximately 2 hours’ drive from Suva.
In Namosi you enter the “old” Fiji where you will meet people living in remote communities without internet or mobile phone access. All the villagers farm vegetables and root crops and they catch prawns, eels and fish from the river to eat. Kava, the traditional ceremonial drink popular in Fiji, is their main source of cash income.
The Namosi Eco Retreat is set up like a traditional-style authentic Fijian village, with each Bure (hut) handcrafted to replicate the traditional homes of their ancestors. The Retreat is not a resort. This means that each Bure is very basic – though the modern comfort of a bed and hinged-door has been added. The separate amenities have a flush toilet and hot water showers.
Home grown, fresh and chemical free Fijian foods are served, especially root crops and vegetables that are provided by local farmers each day along with fresh fish and prawns from the river whenever possible. Guests are encouraged to help in cooking the foods in the authentic way.
You will enjoy reconnecting with nature and take part in fun-packed activities:
- Morning Activities: hiking (an hour-long hilltop hike behind the village), building bamboo rafts and Rafting, river sups, river swimming.
- Afternoon Activities: Games, Baseball, cricket, soccer, touch rugby, relays, tug of war, volleyball.
- Night Entertainment: such as a kava ceremony, bonfires, Meke, and a acoustic sigidrigi band will entertain you all night.
