Welcome to the Second Sunderland Art Festival!
We're back — and this time, we're bringing even more imagination, colour, and creativity to the heart of the city!
Join us at Sheepfolds Stables on Sunday 31 August from 10 am to 4 pm for a second summer celebration of art, invention, and play.
We’re thrilled to announce that Dominic Wilcox, Sunderland-born artist, inventor, and internationally celebrated “thinkerupper”, will be joining us with two extraordinary experiences that celebrate the power of imagination.
What's On with Dominic Wilcox:
1. Little Inventors Workshop
Let’s shape the Sunderland of tomorrow! Children and young people are invited to dream big and design new ideas for the city’s Keel Square Bridge and riverbank. With a giant cardboard model as the creative playground, budding inventors can build and share their wildest ideas, all part of Dominic’s much-loved Little Inventors project, led by brilliant cardboard artist Lottie Smith.
2. The Lost and Found Office of Oddities
Step into a world where the weird and wonderful come alive! Created in collaboration with Atlas Theatre Company, this live performance invites you to explore bizarre objects and invent stories about their origins and purposes. It’s interactive, mysterious, and delightfully silly — just the way creativity should be!
Come along for a day of surprising stories, hands-on invention, and joyful exploration.
Whether you're 5 or 85, there's something here to spark your imagination.
