Poets’ Corner .008: a King Ink x Sunderland Lit & Phil collaboration

Join us this October as Poets’ Corner dives into The Harlem Renaissance, a momentous reforging of Black identity in America (and elsewhere).

The Harlem Renaissance was a significant intellectual, social, and cultural movement among African Americans in the 1920s and 1930s, centered in Harlem, New York City. Fueled by the Great Migration, this era saw a flourishing of Black literature, music (especially jazz and blues), dance, visual art, and scholarship, which celebrated African American identity and heritage, provided a new platform for Black voices, and challenged racist sterotypes.

We’ll meet slightly earlier than usual at 6pm in The Bridge Hotel Vaults, Sunderland to allow anyone going to see Donald Jenkins/Helen Wilko at Pop Recs the option to attend both events.

FREE! (Though you will likely want a drink or two in the pub and Midnight Pizza Cru will be serving legendary scran in the bar.)
