Jarpsy are an indie alternative rock outfit hailing from Sunderland, known for their live energy and relentless drive. Having built a fierce local following, they’ve sold out venues across the North East and taken their songs on the road, touring alongside The Fratellis and Sticky Fingers. With gritty hooks, infectious choruses, and a no-holds-barred live show, Jarpsy are crafting something special.
Jarpsy’s music transcends the typical indie rock template, crafting a dynamic fusion of rock and roll grit, crowd-frenzying choruses, and pop-leaning infectious melodies, resulting in a sound that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary. Their genre-bending range extends across psychedelia, alternative and hard rock, and a signature British indie twang - an eclectic mix they’ve embraced under the cheeky self-label of “council pop”.
Since emerging around 2018 in Sunderland, Jarpsy have built a steady discography that captures their evolution - from punchy early singles like "Look Alive" and "Hammerhead" to more recent tracks such as "When You Leave" and "Scarper." Their latest release, the six-track EP “Ocean Sounds”, debuted in early 2025, reflecting both their growth and continued momentum. The title track from the EP was also named as BBC introducing in the North East & Yorkshire’s track of the week. The band’s repertoire is constantly evolving, ensuring every show feels fresh, unpredictable, and brimming with energy.
Jarpsy’s reputation has been forged on the live stage, where their gigs have garnered a cult following - loud, bouncy, and exhilarating performances that have become a hallmark of their brand. They've earned festival billing - notably at Hardwick Live - and shared stages with notable names including The Fratellis, Sticky Fingers, The Delta Riggs, and Will and the People. These connections speak to their DIY ethos, creative grit, and clear ambition to take over the UK indie circuit and push toward broader recognition.
In keeping with their evolution, Jarpsy are lining up to drop two new tracks, ‘Happy Yet?’ and ‘Better Days Alone’ this year. “Happy Yet?”, landing in late October, flips the traditional breakup song on its head, introspective but never self-pitying, it delivers joy through its melodic bounce and euphoric harmonies. It’s emotionally rich without losing the band’s signature spark. Coming in December, “Better Days Alone” begins with a swaggering dose of British-via-New York indie cool before detonating into a riff-heavy rock behemoth. With unexpected twists and a confident stride, it’s a bold statement of intent. Together, these two tracks mark a clear step forward, a louder, sharper, more ambitious Jarpsy that’s charging toward bigger stages with even bigger songs.
