Copperplate Short Course

Indulge in an extended exploration of Copperplate Script in this six-week short course in the tranquil surroundings of The Art Room Sunderland. Calligrapher Angela Reed will guide you through the basics of writing with a pointed nib before moving on to letterforms – lower and upper case – and letter joins to create beautiful words and sentences.

Copperplate is a style of calligraphy similar to cursive handwriting, written with a pointed nib, where thick and thin strokes are created by pressure and release of the nib. While Copperplate is a traditional calligraphy script, the pen technique can be adapted to create more modern calligraphy styles.

It is a thoroughly relaxing and mindful activity.

Classes will be held weekly, every Tuesday, from 1pm to 3pm.

The course dates are May 6, 13 and 20 and June 3, 10 and 17.

The cost is £60 and materials will be provided.
