Dance of Colors is a vibrant celebration of heritage, love and the rich cultural tapestry of the Caribbean. Author Sierrah Chavis invites readers into a world bursting with the vivid hues and lively rhythms of Guyanese and Bajan traditions, sharing a heartwarming story that honors the strength and unity of family. Enjoy a reading of the book and Q&A with the author, learn the customs and traditions of the dancing and costumes worn for two of the biggest Caribbean festivals Crop Over and Mashramani and create your own headpiece.

Books will be available for purchase. For families. Activities are geared for ages 5 and older and with caregiver assistance for those younger.

About the Author

Dance of Colors: Family Traditions and Caribbean Rhythms is a vibrant celebration of culture, love, and the rich tapestry of the Caribbean, written by Mrs. Sierrah Chavis, a former educator and the founder of Bossy Girl Inc. With over 10 years of experience in education and the nonprofit sector, Mrs. Chavis has dedicated her career to empowering youth and advocating for the underserved. Her passion for helping the “underdog” reach their full potential has remained a consistent theme throughout her work, whether in advocating for people with disabilities, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), or supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence.

Mrs. Chavis holds an M.Ed in Special Education and an Ed.S in School Leadership and Administration from Old Dominion University. She is a two-time bestselling author, known for her impactful books No Shame in my Pain and From Pain to Power, and her writing has been featured in various educational publications, blogs, and articles. A seasoned speaker, Mrs. Chavis has presented at conferences, women’s empowerment events, and even radio segments. As the founder of Bossy Girl Inc., she leads an organization dedicated to empowering women to uplift and support the next generation of girl leaders, CEOs, and entrepreneurs.

In Dance of Colors, Mrs. Chavis brings her passion for youth and cultural heritage to life. Readers are invited to experience the flavors, traditions, and rhythms of the Caribbean, as she shares the magic of her Guyanese and Bajan roots.
