Book Signing: In the Herbarium by Maura Flannery

Professor emerita of biology at St. John’s University, New York, and research affiliate in the A. C. Moore Herbarium at the University of South Carolina, Flannery’s book testifies to the central role of herbaria in the history of plant study and to their continued value to biologists, gardeners, artists, students, and citizen-scientists. By sharing the history of herbaria from early collections to present-day digitization, Flannery explores its importance in tracking climate change, molecular evolution, and even how herbaria can be linked to Indigenous peoples, collectors, or scientists.
