7.9-mile loop trail near Suches, Georgia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 13 min to complete.
To reach the Slaughter Creek Trail on Blood Mountain in Georgia, you'll need to head towards Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area in Suches, GA. From there, you'll find the trailhead near the southern end of the lake, accessible via a spur trail off the Jarrard
Detailed Directions:
1. From Suches, GA: Take GA-180 East for about 4.4 miles.
2. Turn onto Lake Winfield Scott Road: Turn right onto Lake Winfield Scott Road.
3. Enter Recreation Area: Continue into the Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area and pay the entrance fee at the station. $5 per person
4. Parking: The Slaughter Creek Trail and Jarrard Gap Trail share a parking area located in a long pull-off on the left side of the road, approximately 0.6 miles from GA-180. The trailhead is on the right side of the road, just past the Slaughter Creek road bridge
5. The Slaughter Creek Trail is accessible from the parking area. It leads to Blood Mountain via a loop that includes the Jarrard Gap Trail and the Appalachian Trail.
