Philip Douch reads candlelit stories.
He chats for a bit. Then he reads you his stories.
Disarmingly simple. Beautifully crafted. Expertly delivered. And funny too.

Chairs will be provided, but bring a cushion and maybe a blanket! And please bring your own drinks - wine, coffee, etc & glasses/mugs. Think of it as an adventure!
This is a great chance to see inside our lovely old chapels at the start of their restoration for the community.
Ticket income will be split between Philip and the chapels.
Philip has toured his two short stories shows - ‘He Does What?!’ and ‘Does He Really Do More Of That?!’ - to community venues around the South West – including the Cheltenham Everyman Studio, The Alma Pub Theatre in Bristol and community halls in Minchinhampton, Randwick, Wotton-under-Edge and Bovey Tracey. He knows that it is ambiguous to say that he also once closed the Nailsworth Festival…..
He has twice won the Gloucestershire Writers Network annual short story competition, read at the Cheltenham Literature Festival and Evesham Festival of Words, and features in the top three for stories chosen for performance at Stroud Short Stories.
More intriguingly he has read in a torrential rainstorm at The Green Man Festival (quite damp), in the dark on the back of a land rover (quite dangerous) and at a Pirates Party (quite dressed up). This is his first time reading in a cemetery (quite easy to add your own joke here…..)
Here’s what a couple of (non-financially rewarded) people were sufficiently stimulated to say about his recent touring show:
‘We all had a fabulous time and we all talked about it on the way home.’
‘A huge high… I haven’t laughed so much for ages.’
Philip is pleased to welcome three guest readers for this special evening - Sarah Lucas, Sallie Anderson and Jenny Nixon
