What: Beginner Music Camp for students ages 7-10
When: August 9, 2025, from 9am to 3 pm
Where: Heck Harkins Community Center, 1685 Broadway St., Stockport, OH, 43787
Cost: $8 per student OR $10 per household
The Beginner Music Camp will be a fun filled day of musical activities that will teach students the fundamentals of music making! There is no prior experience needed to participate, and students do not need to have any instruments!
The schedule will consist of 6 different classes, taught by music students from Ohio University! In the morning, students will learn the basics of rhythm, music notation, scales, beats, and dynamics. In the afternoon, students will apply these skills through bucket drumming, a scavenger hunt, and a string instrument petting zoo!
Students should arrive by 9 am, and they will need to be picked up by 3 pm. There will be a break for lunch around noon. We ask students to please pack their own lunches.
This event is made possible by the Morgan County Community of the Arts and the Appalachian String Initiative. To make this event a success, we need at least 25 students to register!
