This event is part of AFIA FESTIVAL vol.8 2025 8-15th of June.
AFIA Festival is an annual music and dance festival (est.2016) that is celebrating South African culture, with guest appearances of other african/african diasporic cultures!
Woza Jam & Battle is an event for the whole family and takes place in two parts in the center of Stockholm. So tell your sister to tell her friend, bring your mother and uncle who can bring his niece and so on. We welcome you ALL to a full day celebrating music from the African Continent.
On this great day you can both enjoy the open dance floor and you will also be able to see or take part in the Free of Style dance battle where we welcome everyone to inspire each other with their own unique styles and expressions of dance.
PART 1:
13.00-15.00 Jam & Battle Preselection @ Sergels Torg in collaboration with “På Sergels Torg”
This part of the event is outdoors and FREE.
Dont be late, sign up for the battle at 13.00 and preselection starts shortly after!
PART 2:
16:00 - 19:00 Battle, Jam & Performance @ Kulturhuset Stadsteatern.
We continue the event INDOORS. We encourage you to come inside and watch the battle with the selected dancers from the preselection.
The Battle is Free of Style battle so you dance as you feel to the music played by DJ Jolie, she will be playing music from all over the African Continent, all from traditional to newly released.
Concept battle:
You sign up solo and the battle concept will then lead you to teaming up to a semi-final being 2vs2 and a Final being 3vs3. The dancers winning their battle selects and invites one of the dancers who did not pass their battle to enter the battle again in a duo and a trio.
This part of the event is indoors and a ticket is needed. Audience Price: 85 SEK. You can buy a ticket prior to the event or buy it at the door (we do not swipe, swish or tap, you will be asked to buy from our tickster website)
If you made it from the preselection to the battle you have a free entrance.
