Studio17 Residency har gleden av å ønske kunstnerne Sinae Lee og Lucie Garrigues fra Frankrike velkommen til Stavanger!
Bio:
Sinae Lee and Lucie Garrigues share a common interest in memory, storytelling, and the spaces where
personal and collective narratives intersect, providing a strong foundation for their collaboration. Together,
they aim to explore how children’s games—such as the iconic arcade game Whac-A-Mole—evoke the
coexistence of playfulness and violence. Using imagery like hammers, holes, and hidden moles, they
address themes of visibility and invisibility within the context of adult life.
During this residency, they will work on a video and installation piece that can also be activated as a
performance. For their first collaboration, with a touch of mischief, they seek to highlight how memories and
doubts are buried, suppressed, and eventually re-emerge over time.
Sinae Lee primarily works with video, installation, and performance, creating visual representations of the
physical and psychological distance between where she was born and where she now lives. Her work often
draws on family memories, reflecting on how personal narratives connect and diverge across time and
space.
Lucie Garrigues is a stage director and actress. She stages and performs stories that blur the boundaries
between tragedy, horror, and clowning. She works across various media, including video and performance,
to create handcrafted trompe-l’œil effects that distort perception.
