CONTINUALS
Bio:
Continuals are four human friends who were in a bunch of other bands before this one (most notably Kerosene 454, Soccer Team, Alarms and Controls, The Most Secret Method, Office of Future Plans, Hunger Artist, and Channels). Darren Zentek plays drums. Michael Honch plays bass. Melissa Quinley sings and plays keyboards. Ryan Nelson plays guitar and "sings.” Their self-titled debut LP (Bright Future 01/Dischord 197.5) was released in April 2024. A second album is in the works. Their live show features 35 minutes of music crammed into a half hour. They do what they want.

SAMUEL S.C.
Bio:
Samuel began in the early 90's in State College, PA as a queer female-fronted punk rock outfit that relentlessly toured the legendary DIY hardcore/punk circuit alongside notables of the time such as Avail, Promise Ring, Texas Is the Reason, Chamberlain, Anti-Flag, Kerosene 454 and dozens more. Born from the ashes of Downing’s previous outfit Junction, Samuel was the flagship band of drummer Eric Astor’s revered indie label Art Monk Construction. An untimely break up in 1995 ensured Samuel’s footprint in a long line of early emo/post hardcore legends would remain small albeit memorable, due to powerful live performances and hooky 7” releases capturing a sound that refused to fall neatly into any punk subgenre. Their hard-driving anthems were equal parts stadium-ready indie rock (think Sugar and Superchunk) and spiky angularity (think Fugazi and Drive Like Jehu). Meanwhile, singer Vanessa Downing’s presence as a young, openly queer woman was contemporaneous with the blossoming riot grrl movement and inspired women, girls and LGBTQ youth within the burgeoning DIY/hardcore/punk scene.
Reformed in 2021 as Samuel S.C. with friendships and chemistry well intact, the added S.C. reflected a new beginning in the digital age while paying homage to their origins. The band continues to craft genre-bucking music and deliver compelling live performances. Their 25-years-later 2023 debut LP High Places carried forward the same momentum, emotion, and melodicism as their early underground hits “Lives of Insects” and “Empty and Then Some”. The latest cycle in SSC’s remarkable lifespan is marked by the release of "Exit Scene", a 7” featuring two blisteringly energetic, defiantly joyful and only mildly cynical bangers released on Minnesota's Landland Colportage, Oct. 2024. More new releases are in the works for 2025.
