Lederer Park: Free Guided Outings

Lederer Park is one of three connected areas that make up a sizeable natural area in the midst of bustling State College. Lederer Park, Walnut Springs Park, and Thompson Woods Preserve provide scenic open spaces for residents while supporting the health of local streams and wildlife and reducing impacts from flooding events. Lederer Park has plenty of leisurely walking trails with an impressive arboretum of labeled trees, the James Evans Oak Arboretum.

Centred Outdoors guides will be joined by Lance King (State College Borough Buildings and Grounds Manager, Certified Master Arborist), and Kolby Cowher (Intern), who will make stops along the trail to discuss the oak varieties in the James Evans Arboretum.

How to Prepare:
- Sturdy shoes and a filled water bottle (32 oz. or more per adult) are necessary for all outings.
- Water filling stations are not available at most locations.
- Sun and insect protection recommended such as sunscreen, insect repellent, long sleeves/pants, or hat.


For self-guided explorations, the trails are open to the public throughout the year.
