Next meeting of the Central Pennsylvania Observers, Thursday June 5
The Astronomical League Observing Programs & The CPO Equipment Swap/Sale
* Meeting starting at 7:00 pm
*Equipment swap starting at 6:30 and continuing after the meeting
Sharpen your observing skills through the Astronomical League’s observing programs. The Astronomical League is an umbrella organization for amateur astronomy that offers lots of
resources for clubs like CPO, and at our June meeting we will talk about the League’s observing programs. The observing programs provide a sense of direction for your time at the telescope
by giving you goals to accomplish as you peruse the night skies. You can choose among about 100 different observing programs, some suitable for new observers and some requiring more
experience. There are observing programs for many different types of celestial objects and ways of observing (such as visual, imaging, or binoculars). We will talk about a few of the
programs as examples of what they entail and the resources to help complete them.
Before and after the meeting we will hold the CPO Equipment Swap/Sale. This is a chance to find a new home for observing equipment you no longer use and/or to pick up gently used
equipment at a good price. You can find more information about the swap in the May 22 CPO newsletter.
There will be pizza before the meeting!
