🌟WORKSHOP ONE:
Moving in Space with Ross Flores
DESCRIPTION: Move into your scene work with a sense of confidence and creativity! Do you ever want more movement options to add to your scenes? Do you want to feel a bit more physically centered while on stage? Do you occasionally bump into people on stage and then whisper "oops, sorry" to the people? This workshop is for you! In a welcoming and easygoing setting, we will explore qualities of movement, spatial awareness, and finding your center. All with the goal to help bring your character to life and ease your body while on stage. Dance experience is not needed/required for this workshop - all are invited to join! Please dress in comfortable clothing for moving!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Ross Flores (he/him) has been performing for about three decades, with his start in dance. He has trained at many schools such as, but not limited to, the Rock School for Dance Education, NYU CAP 21, and The Joffrey Ballet School. And he graduated as a Dance Major at Northwestern University, where also studied Theatre and Musical Theatre. He has also trained in Ballroom, Latin, Swing dances. Ross has been doing improv and comedy arts for about thirteen years, starting in Chicago. He has since performed around the world including, but not limited to, New York City, Chicago, Berlin, Oslo, and the Twin Cities. Ross is currently taking his solo show, The Manny Rodriguez Show, around the world, is a house improv team member at Strike Theater, and is a cast member of Family Dinner at Brave New Workshop.
🌟WORKSHOP TWO:
Denzel Diagnostics with Denzel Belin
DESCRIPTION: This workshop will be part diagnostics, part facilitated discussion about the way we play on stage and how we can influence an environment where we can bring 100% of ourselves to the stage. You will walk away with a better understanding about yourself as an improviser and tools that you can bring to the table in your classes, groups, and shows. Open to improvisers of all levels who are looking to jump-start their next level of performance.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Denzel Belin (he/him) is a Black bisexual Minneapolis-based improviser, writer, director, actor, producer, and host. Belin is a longstanding cast member and writer with The Brave New Workshop, where he has performed for almost a decade. He produced the weekly open mic “Stand Up Saloon” at The Saloon in Minneapolis . Belin presented a long-form collection of solo sketches and storytelling, “With Love, From Washington” for the Blackness Is…Festival in Minneapolis. He has generated work for Mixed Precipitation, Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus, Fearless Comedy, and more. He directed two world premieres in 2025, "Spellbound" for Threshold Theater this past Spring and “Camp Bludde” for the Twin Cities Horror Festival this past October.
