We all know communication matters, but what happens when trauma rewires the way we speak, listen, and connect?
What happens when trauma starts shaping it before you even know what communication is?
Join us for an open and engaging evening with Evan Burry, an educator, HR professional, and mental health advocate who has lived experience with complex PTSD. Evan’s story is about surviving trauma and learning how to connect with others through everyday conversations, body language, and the simple (but not always easy) act of being present.
In this deeply personal talk, Evan contextualizes his own journey with C-PTSD using relatable, everyday examples of communication. Drawing from personal experiences in a treatment program for trauma, he explores how trauma influences the way we interact, and how awareness can help break cycles of isolation and stigma. Evan will share how he’s unlearning old scripts and practicing new ones, to create connections that don’t cost him his sense of self.
This HeadCase session is honest, eye-opening, and deeply human. Whether you’ve faced trauma yourself or want to better understand how to support others, you’ll leave with a renewed perspective on the power of connection and why communication is one of the most important tools we have for healing.
Content note: This session will include references to trauma, childhood experiences, and may contain some graphic details.
