Canadian indie folk songwriter and producer Jake Nicoll began writing and recording music with his twin brother Billy Nicoll on their Windows 95 PC in 2003. In 2009 he moved to St John’s Newfoundland and his home studio has become a focal point for the local music industry for close to a decade. In 2016 his double album Half of Nothing/Two Things won the Borealis Prize for best album in St. John’s and set him up as a go-to producer in the local scene. His music is thoughtful and introspective, yet always tinged with a playful sense of experimentation. As Sandy May of the Overcast aptly put it: "With each album released Nicoll has explored a different facet of music, and the music making process, analytically taking it apart, holding it up to the light, and putting it back together to create something distinctly his." A prolific engineer, producer and collaborator, Jake has recorded and mixed over 50 albums to date by artists including Kelly McMichael, Phoebe Kreutz, BA Johnston, Jenina MacGillivray, Quiet Marauder, John Moran and The Burning Hell. His newest record "Lonely Mission" is out now.

Our Kitchen closes at 4:00pm, but snacks and baked treats are available till 9:00.
