Aerial Hoop Workshop with Jana Švecová

This aerial hoop workshop is for those who wish to develop their artistic tools, techniques, and personal expression. We will explore both technique and artistic expression through the Release and Resistance approach. We will work with the ever-shifting balance centers of the body on the hoop and learn how to respond to them in real time. We will focus on smooth, expressive transitions between tricks and try out safe improvisational tasks to help you develop your personal expression.

BIO: Jana Švecová is an artist from Makov, Czech Republic. She works on the boundary of various artistic disciplines and is interested in different forms of movement and how they can be used to tell stories. She creates site-specific poetic performances and ephemeral installations, often working with original texts and elements of contemporary circus. She deepened her circus skills at The Academy Circus in London (ONT). Her main disciplines are hoop, aerial rope, and silk. Her aerial language draws on many years of experience with martial arts, exploring personal expression and safe improvisation. She connects her artistic practice with the way she moves through life and with a continuous search for new ways of expression.
