Come along and learn to crochet a pumpkin or Three.

This class is ideal for anyone who understands the basics of crochet, is confident in holding the hook and wool to create stitches.
The Crochet Pumpkin Class is an opportunity to move on from the Granny Square and build on knowledge and skills already gained, to learn a new stitch and create a textured piece of crochet. Then use basic sewing to create a 3D shape.
Your pumpkins can be any colour you want, so there is the opportunity to co-ordinate a colour theme of your choice to create separate pumpkins or to create a more formal display. This is also a chance to use up any oddments of wool that you may have from previous projects or purchase from Sew & Fabric. We shall be making 3 sizes of pumpkin, and the smallest will need approximately 50g minimum.
You will learn:
*Recap the slip knot and chain stitch to then create the foundation row of your project.
*Half treble Crochet and Double crochet stitch to create a textured surface to the pumpkin. (We will look at both stitches to see the differences)*To be able to crochet in rows and cast off.
*To be able to calculate the size of your pumpkins.
Construct your pumpkin then using felt, basic stitches and embellishments to add a stalk and detail to your pumpkins such as leaves.
Included in the class:
*Tuition for the day in a small group which will enable 1:1 help where needed.
*4mm Crochet Hook – if you already have one please bring it with you.
*Basic instructions for all three sizes of pumpkin. Enabling you to make more at home.
*Inspiration sheets to give further ideas and possibilities for the use of your newly created pumpkins.
*A template guide for sizing your pumpkin.
Felt, threads and other embellishments, such as fake leaves, ribbons etc to select from and personalise your pumpkins.
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
*A basic sewing kit to include small scissors, a few pins, hand sewing needle, blunt large eye needle to sew you pumpkin together.
*Small Bag of Toy stuffing which can be purchased from Sew & Fabric/ recycle stuffing from an unwanted cushion pad.
Double Knit wool in colours of your choice.
*4mm Crochet Hook ( if you have one.)
*Pen and paper.
OPTIONAL: If you have any small embellishments that you would like to add to your pumpkin to personalise it then please bring them with you. For example- small twig to use for the stalk, ribbon/raffia, small fake leaves/flowers.
