Ron Jackson Quartet

Ron Jackson is a world-renowned, seven-string jazz guitarist, composer, and educator with over 135K social media followers. Jackson has an impressive international presence, having performed, recorded, and taught music across more than 30 countries. His recent work includes producing, composing, and performing on Kevin Powell’s GRAMMY® Award-nominated album, “Grocery Shopping With My Mother.”

As a distinguished recording artist, Jackson has released over ten albums, beginning with his debut, It’s A Guitar Thing (Muse), in 1992. His latest album, “Standards And My Songs,” achieved a Top 10 position on the JazzWeek radio chart in 2022 and marks his second project recorded solely on the seven-string guitar.

Recognized as one of the few master jazz guitarists globally, he specializes in both six and seven-string jazz guitar and has showcased his talents at renowned jazz festivals worldwide, including The North Sea Jazz Festival, The Edinburgh Jazz Festival, The AAPI Jazz Festival & The Super Jazz Ashdod Festival in Israel. In 2022, he was honored with The South Arts JazzRoad Grant, further solidifying his status in the jazz community. Adam Perlmutter of JazzTimes has noted that Jackson's mastery of the seven-string guitar places him among a select group of elite musicians.

The Jackson Room which is located in the heart of historical Queens, happens to be in the neighborhood where Ed grew up. This particular area of Queens in the town of St Albans, was home to an uncanny number of musicians including Count Basie, Fats Waller, Illinois Jacquet, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, Lenny White to name a few. In fact, John Coltrane lived on Mexico street which is just a few blocks away from the venue.

The Jackson Room has provided Ed with a chance to fulfill a more personal mission of enhancing Queens’ cultural landscape by bringing jazz back to the community.
