✨ We are so excited to bring to you a fusion dance workshop with our guest teacher, Samuel Samways! ✨
Some of you may remember him from the classes he taught on Salt Spring Island at the fusion festival a few weeks ago. We are so happy he can join us in Squamish for another class!
Samuel will lead a 1hr30 workshop on connection in partnered dance drawing on his contact improv and Latin American social dances background.
There will be a chance for 1-1 feedback with Samuel during the social, where he will also be playing us a Brazilian inspired playlist.

8.45pm to 10.00pm - Social dance and opportunity for 1-1 feedback with Samuel!

✨ Our Teacher ✨
Samuel is a Brazilian professional dance artist with 15 years of experience and research in partner dancing. His research extends to acrobatic movements, floorwork, capoeira, contemporary dance, contact improvisation and the fusion of Latin American social dances, with an emphasis in Brazilian Zouk, Tango, Forró and Samba.
He will be offering private lessons on the dates around the workshop. More info will be added soon.

✨ WHAT IS FUSION? ✨
Fusion is improvised partner dancing, with no rules or constraints beyond respect and safety for yourself and those around you. Think: curiosity, playfulness and connection, rather than a rigid set of moves or steps.
...An opportunity for folks from different backgrounds to come together and blend their dance styles to create something unique and inherently undefinable.

Fusion dancing is for every body. Come alone, come with friends, dip a toe in or plunge in the deep end. However you want to dance, we are here for it - whether you are completely new to partner dancing or have a background in any dance style!
Fusion dancing at its core is about inclusivity and openness. We cannot assume someone wants to follow or lead based on their apparent gender - just ask them! We're also all about being great at respecting peoples boundaries and bodies, paying attention and using your words if you're unsure. Trust us, asking is way less awkward than getting it wrong!
Creating safer spaces takes a whole community! If we feel someone is not upholding our core values of respect and compassion for all, a host may ask them to leave.
We welcome all ages, genders, races, backgrounds, sexualities, perspectives and abilities.
