Upper Buck Creek River Cleanup

We are returning to Buck Creek this summer to finish the clean up of the 5 mile corridor we started back in April! Nearly 3 months ago, our volunteer squad extracted over 20 shopping carts from the lower section of the creek in under 4 hours. The turnout was incredible, and the city recognized our efforts and put us in the Sunday newspaper!

This time we will be meeting at Prarie View Recreation Area, where we will have a volunteer briefing at 11:00am. A team of kayakers will set shuttle flow dependant. If the water is too low the run won't be possible. However, we will need teams of volunteers to split into groups and pick up trash in the surrounding parks along the river and bike trail.We will have stations set up at each park with trash bags, gloves, and bottled waters.

Once the cleanup is over we will have pizza and soda for every participant! We appreciate everyone's help this year making the Springfield area a much cleaner and safer place to paddle.
