POST-FLOOD THANKSGIVING GATHERING! Mark your calendar and plan to attend a post-flood celebration and open house on Friday, Nov. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Occasions located at 104 East 4th Street (old middle school building) in Spencer.
The come-and-go event is free to the public and will include an evening of appetizers and beverages. All are welcome. Flood books will also be available for purchase for $45 each that evening from Arts on Grand. The event is planned for connectivity. There will be no formal presentation, rather plenty of opportunities to gather and remember.
Arts on Grand's Spencer Flood Book Committee has planned the event to help celebrate flood rescuers, volunteers, and citizens who survived and have since thrived following the flood. The book: "Spencer, Iowa, Flood of 2024" books include the compilation of 178 stories as told by rescuers, victims, volunteers, and organizations.
The primary goal of the event is to unite the rescued with the brave citizen rescuers who came to the aid of their fellow man on that fateful day. Many of those rescued did not know those who came to their assist, and have since expressed a desire to meet their heroes for an opportunity to thank them personally. This is that opportunity!
Please RSVP to Arts on Grand Book Committee Chair Barb Workman Schneider at 712.260.8672 or Arts on Grand President John Smock at 970.373.9295 by November 3. Contact Arts on Grand with additional questions at 712.262.4307.
