Supporting Independence
Focuses on helping the person living with dementia take part in daily activities, providing the right amount of support and balancing safety and independence while managing expectations.

Objectives
Building Foundations of Caregiving

• Explain relationship changes that may happen over time while you are caregiving
• Describe five areas of the person-centered care approach
• List actions steps that help lower caregiver stress

Supporting Independence

• Explain the changes in independence that happen in people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias
• Describe the four steps for helping with personal care activities
• Identify ways to know what is the right amount of support

What entrance to the building do I use for the event?

There will be signs outside directing you to the correct entrance. The event will be held on the bottom floor training room of EMERGE. You will enter in the side door of the building (to the right of the parking lot, facing the building) by the concrete staircase.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You do not need a printed ticket. Save a copy of your email confirmation for your records.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Your ticket may only be used for this event.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

The name on the ticket needs to match the name of the person attending the event. If you plan to buy a ticket for someone else, make sure to register with the name and email of the person planning to attend the event.

How do I receive CE credit for this workshop?

After the workshop you will receive an online evaluation. Once your evaluation is submitted electronically, you will be emailed a copy of your workshop certificate.
