Ready to explore the wild side of Suffolk? Join us for a special day at Westleton Common!
Following our visit last autumn, we're returning to see the common in a different season and hopefully spot the stunning Silver Studded Blue butterfly! This is a fantastic opportunity to get hands-on with nature, guided by experts.
What's On?
🎤 Expert Talks: Learn about the significance of heathland habitats at Westleton Village Hall.
🐜 Interactive Surveys: Get involved with invertebrate surveying, hunt for Ant lions, and identify your finds.
🦋 Moth Morning: See the variety of moths trapped on the common the night before.
🐞 Expert Guidance: Our County Recorders, including Ross Piper (Beetles), Peter Vincent (Diptera), and Jerry Bowdrey (Galls), will be there to share their incredible knowledge.
🔬 Try it Yourself!: We have surveying equipment and books to borrow. Try bush-whacking for beetles or sieving leaf litter for pseudo-scorpions!
This is your chance to leave the screens behind and experience wildlife up close. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your collecting equipment if you have it!
Please wear clothing suitable for the weather and be prepared for uneven terrain.
