About the event

August Learning Series: Finding One's Voice Through Advocacy
Join us for a special partnership event with the Hispanic Leadership Group and John Burroughs School, featuring an engaging author talk and advocacy training led by renowned activist and writer Cynthia Levin. This meaningful evening will offer opportunities to deepen community connections and gain practical tools for effective advocacy.

About the Author:

Cynthia Changyit Levin is the author of "From Changing Diapers to Changing the World: Why Moms Make Great Advocates and How to Get Started" and the upcoming "Advocacy Made Easy: How to Turn Civic Frustration Into Powerful Action."

A rare breed of non-partisan activist who works across a variety of issues, Levin coaches volunteers of all ages to build productive relationships with members of Congress. She advocated side-by-side with her two children from their toddler to teen years and crafted a new approach to advocacy based upon her strengths as a mother.

She served as a board member of RESULTS/RESULTS Educational Fund for four years and led volunteer groups for RESULTS in Chicago and St Louis for over ten years. She is currently a volunteer with RESULTS, the ONE campaign, Bread for the World, CARE, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, MomsRising, and the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign.

Cynthia is a keynote speaker for groups such as PTA, United Nations Association, and Girl Scouts. She speaks on podcasts and at local St. Louis institutions such as St. Louis University, Webster University, John Burroughs School (middle and high school students), Congregation B’nai Amoona, and Parkway United Church of Christ. She remotely appears on national volunteer webinars as a coach for advocacy groups like RESULTS.

In 2021, she was awarded the Cameron Duncan Media Award from RESULTS Educational Fund for her activism in written media.
