Author Dante Poole to Host Book Signing at Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities
On August 1, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities in Southern Pines, NC, will welcome local author, educator, and leadership coach Dante Poole for a special book signing event featuring his latest release, Developing A Durable Mind: A Guide to Cultivating Adaptability and Strength.
Poole’s book explores the essential skills needed to build mental resilience, adaptability, and personal strength in a world that demands flexibility and growth. Through personal storytelling, reflective exercises, and insights drawn from children's literature, Poole offers readers practical tools for developing what he calls “a durable mind”—one that can withstand life’s pressures and emerge stronger.
What makes Developing A Durable Mind stand out is its unique use of children’s stories as teaching tools for adults. Poole bridges the wisdom found in children’s picture books with the complexities of adult life, showing that profound lessons often come from simple narratives. His approach invites readers to re-examine their thinking patterns and reshape the stories they tell themselves about who they are and what they are capable of becoming.
“I believe that resilience is not something we either have or don’t have—it’s a skill we can develop,” Poole says. “Our mindset matters. Our ability to adjust, to be curious, to embrace discomfort, and to move beyond limiting beliefs—these are the things that make us durable.”
Poole’s connection to the community is both personal and professional. He served Moore County Schools as a school counselor and later as principal of Aberdeen Elementary School, where he was named Moore County Schools Principal of the Year for 2021–2022. His leadership and dedication to the well-being of students and staff continue to inspire his work as an author and coach.
In addition to the book signing, the event will offer a chance to meet the author, hear personal reflections on the writing process, and engage in conversation about the themes of mental toughness, emotional well-being, and personal growth. Copies of Developing A Durable Mind will be available for purchase, and Poole will be signing books throughout the evening.
The Weymouth Center’s historic setting offers the perfect backdrop for this event. As a literary landmark, Weymouth has long served as a creative haven for writers, poets, and artists. Its deep-rooted commitment to fostering the arts and humanities makes it an ideal space for community gatherings that celebrate storytelling and personal growth. Admission is free and open to the public.
“We all face moments that test our resolve and challenge our thinking,” Poole says. “This book is about equipping people to navigate those moments with courage, clarity, and compassion—for themselves and for others.”
