Join us on a legendary 20-mile cycling quest through Middle-Earth (or Southend on Sea) in The Lord of the Chain Rings: The Fellowship of the Ride — a two-wheeled adventure where hobbits, elves, dwarves, and very sweaty humans unite for one noble purpose: to conquer the mythical mileage and defeat the dark forces of Saddle Soreness.
Your journey begins in the peaceful Shire (aka Southchurch Park), where brave riders gather, fueled by second breakfast and questionable life choices. From there, the path takes you through the rugged hills of Rohan (or maybe just a slight incline), across the flat plains of Gondor (thankfully paved), and into the shadowy lands of Mordor (the final 3 miles when your legs betray you).
Along the way, you’ll face treacherous terrain (speed bumps), battle monstrous beasts (aggressive squirrels), and resist the temptation of the One Ring (or donuts at mile 10). Costumes are encouraged, fellowship is mandatory, and dramatic narration in your best Gandalf voice is strongly recommended.
This is no ordinary ride. This is your quest.
One ride to rule them all.
(USEFUL NOTES: This ride will do our usual route, including Great Wakering, and going to the Parsons Barn for breakfast, before stopping on the seafront at Lifstan Way, for those that don't want to continue our journey. This where you can do a Boromir and depart the fellowship).
