SUJ : Pride Anthems

Looking forward to #23 in our series of themed nights. This time we’ll be celebrating the best of those anthems that have been adopted and embraced by the LGBTQ+ community over the years. Including classics from the 70s and 80s right up to the current day, this will be a celebration commemorating the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer culture and community.

As usual, this will be a Southampton Ukulele Jam twist on the vinyl listening party. We'll be listening to each of the original tracks, and then playing each track together, as a ukulele jam. Getting a sense of how it was done, and then jamming together, putting SUJ's very unique spin on each tune.

I’ll confirm the setlist closer to the date, but all the songs will be taken from the Pride Anthems songbook, which you can download from https://uketunes.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/pride-anthems.pdf (n.b. there’s a good chance that there will be an update before the night when I’ve had a play through - so watch this space for any updates).

We’ll be at our new venue - The Cricketers Arms in Woolston. It’s just over the bridge, there’s some parking at the back of the pub, and there is also parking in the nearby Portsmouth Road Car Park.
