A Day With Prof. Katherine (Kittie) Verdolini Abbott: Mastering the "how" of singing teaching

The ANATS Qld chapter is thrilled to announce an exclusive upcoming PD event, featuring world-class voice researcher and clinician, Professor Katherine (Kittie) Verdolini Abbott. We are very pleased to be teaming up with ENT Laser Hearing & Speech Therapy Centre (HK) to bring this rare opportunity to Brisbane.

This event is a full-day deep dive into the application of perceptual motor learning theory for singing teachers, which will give you practical tools to improve not just your teaching, but your students' learning experience. The event is well suited to advanced teachers as well as those just starting out, and everyone in between.

You know WHAT you want your singing students to learn, but how often do you stop to think about HOW you can teach it in a way that ensures not just short term improvement, but long term retention as well?

Prof. Katherine Verdolini Abbott pioneered the application of perceptual-motor learning theory (much of it originating in the world of sports) into the world of voice training. Kittie will demonstrate how motor learning can impact singers, first via a teaching demonstration, followed by two lectures detailing the application of motor learning research. The afternoon will consist of a hands-on practical session where you can put into practice the key takeaways from the morning sessions, by teaching your fellow attendees. Kittie will provide feedback in a small group setting, and the day will close with a Q&A session.
