Stuck in a small town and loveless marriage, Jenna, a waitress at Joe's Pie Diner, tries to escape her everyday life through the pies she expertly bakes. After finding out she is unexpectedly pregnant, she enters a nearby baking contest in hopes of using the prize money to open her own pie shop. Supported by a cast of sometimes quirky friends and a surprise romance, the waitress works towards her dream of a fulfilling life, one pie at a time.
Based on a 2007 indie film, Waitress features music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson.
